S()fia Braga is an Italian transmedia artist and a leading voice in AI-mediated cinematic storytelling based in Vienna. Her artistic practice explores emerging technologies to create speculative fabulations about counter-futures, engaging with themes such as human–non-human collaborations and more-than-human agency. In parallel, Braga’s research examines the concepts of Interveillance and Platform Workshipping, uncovering the hidden power dynamics embedded in the operational structures of centralized social media platforms and their sociological implications.

Braga’s works span mediated moving-image pieces, hybrid installations, and transmedia narrative environments unfolding across digital and physical spaces. Her speculative worlds remain deliberately indeterminate, inviting multiple interpretations and activating forms of collective imagination (or hallucination) as viewers move through machinic landscapes, digital rituals, and posthuman mythologies. Rather than attempting to predict the future, Braga's works function as exercises in speculation, opening space to rehearse alternative modes of sensing, imagining, and becoming.

Her research and practice have been recognized with numerous awards and grants, including the AI in Art grant from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Arts and Culture, the Kunstförderpreis der Stadt Linz in the category New Media Art, Design and Communication, the Content Vienna Award, the Bank Austria Studios Award, and the CIFRA Award – Future Recipes, among others.
